🌟 Book Fair Chairperson

Serve as the point of contact with our Book Fair representative, and the PTA will provide all the information, resources, and volunteer hands you need to succeed. The Book Fair runs three times during the school year: one week in October, one week in February, and three days in May. This position can easily be shared between two or more co-chairs, and you will have a team of volunteers supporting you every step of the way.

Spanish Translators

Translate PTA comms from English into Spanish. Our current VP of Comms does not speak Spanish, and while Google Translate does its best it is no substitute for native speakers. Join a small group of dedicated people willing to translate or proof read the flyers, emails, and other communications the PTA shares out to parents to ensure all our families can get the information they need.

In the classroom

We are hoping to add an official room parent program either this school year or next, but if you are interested in volunteering in your child's classroom please reach out to their teacher directly via ParentSquare. Classroom volunteer opportunities are left to the discretion of individual teachers. These one-time events are typically Category A volunteer opportunities and do not need approval beyond checking in with the school office to participate.

Event volunteers

These one-time events are typically Category A volunteer opportunities and do not need approval beyond checking in with the school office to participate. Whether it's setting up tables, passing out water at the Fun Run, or decorating a car for the Trunk-or-Treat, there are many events throughout the year that need your help! Check the homepage calendar for upcoming events or look for "Call For Volunteer" listings on the Events List or homepage calendar.

Field trip chaperones

Being a field trip chaperone is a Category B volunteer opportunity and can take up to a month to approve. At least one of the steps must be completed annually. You can see the most recent requirements on the SCUSD website's volunteer page. If you think that you may want to chaperone a field trip and you have not completed the approval it is recommended that you do so, or you can reach out directly to your child(ren)’s teacher to ask if a field trip is planned. For specific field trips your teacher will send out a flyer, ParentSquare message, or both asking for volunteers.
